‎**National Protest**
Hey guys,
I’d just like to say a huge thank you to those of you who came to protest with us yesterday. The media coverage has been fantastic and unlike last year, it’s all positive. It was the main story on both the 6 o’clock and 9 o’clock news. President of U.S.I had time to speak with Brian Dobson afterwards as well as making it on to Vincent Browne. Awareness of our campaign has increased dramatically and after yesterday the majority of the country are behind us. Well done for participating!
Details of our local protest will soon follow.
Thank you,
I.T.Tralee Students’ Union
ATTENTION ALL J1 STUDENTS
It has come to our attention that some students, particularly a significant number spending this summer in the United States, have been placing laminates on their passport details page to change their age. The presence of the laminate is easily detectable by border control officers and those used to inspect travel documents. Additionally once attached, the passport is compromised and its removal will cause considerable damage to the document. It should be stressed that falsifying or altering a passport is a criminal offence and in the US a federal offence, punishable by fine, imprisonment and/or refusal of future entry to America. Accordingly, individuals who have attached a laminate to their passport, or have altered details on their passport in some other way, are strongly advised not to travel on the document and to have it replaced immediately. Specifically we urgently advise any student or traveller who has placed a laminate on their passport to contact their nearest Irish Embassy or Consulate immediately to arrange a replacement.
